Beau Breslin, professor of political science, published 鈥�,鈥� as part of 鈥�,鈥� a symposium by Democracy: A Journal of Ideas to draft a new constitution.
A project led by Kris Covey, assistant professor of environment studies and sciences, and Bruno Basso of Michigan
State University has been named a winner of the . A $250,000 award will support , which is harnessing diverse data types to answer foundational questions about soil
carbon and create a new market in partnership with farmers committed to sustainability. Covey has
also been invited to participate in the 鈥淔ood and Ag Data Innovation Conservation
and Climate Change鈥� workshop series hosted by the in June and July. He discussed his research in a that appeared on Current Time TV, a 24-hour television network produced by Radio
Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in cooperation with VOA.
Kate Graney, professor of political science, was keynote speaker for the panel 鈥�30 Years On: The Legacy of the Post-Soviet Transformation and the Future of Democracy.鈥� Graney discussed her 2019 book, 鈥淩ussia, the Former Soviet Republics, and Europe Since 1989: Transformation and Tragedy.鈥� The panel was sponsored by the New Eastern Europe center in Krakow, Poland, and included participants from Ukraine, Germany and Georgia.
Jeffrey Segrave, professor of health and human physiological sciences and chair of the Department
of Music, published 鈥淭he Wonderful World of Quidditch: An Innovative Model of Gender
Inclusivity鈥� in 鈥溾�� edited by Anne Tj酶nndal and published by Palgrave Macmillan.
Kurt Smemo, associate professor and associate director of the Environmental Studies and Sciences
Program, is lead author on the scientific paper 鈥�,鈥� which was published in the journal Biogeochemistry.
Masami Tamagawa, senior teaching professor of Japanese, was interviewed for the article 鈥�,鈥� part of Springer Nature鈥檚 Pride 2021 Campaign. He also participated in the online
panel discussion 鈥�,鈥� organized by the Wilson Center in Washington.
