Samantha Haedrich
Assistant Professor

Samantha Haedrich is a graphic designer and teaches Communication Design courses at Skidmore. Her work spans the design and production of books, printed matter, and visual identities for exhibitions and community events. Prior to joining the faculty at Skidmore, she was an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Rochester Institute of Technology and Maine College of Art. She is a co-founder of the annual New England Art Book Fair in Portland, Maine and served on the board of AIGA Maine from 2012–2021.

Samantha’s practice is dedicated to the history and craft of the printed book and its relationship to experimental forms, non-traditional distribution networks and systems of knowledge organization. Through teaching she builds courses around how people navigate, read and document their environment—experimenting with activities of everyday observation, mapping and data visualization.

Samantha holds a B.F.A. in Communication Design from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.F.A. in Graphic Design from Yale University.
